About Us
Choosing the right Sixth Form is one of the most important decisions in a student’s educational journey.
Since the Academy opened in 2017, it has gone from strength to strength, and is now one of the most oversubscribed schools in the region, with a strong reputation for academic excellence and personal development. We are proud to continue this tradition when we welcomed our first sixth form cohort in September 2022. We look forward to you joining us on the next stage of our Sixth Form journey.
A broad curriculum, excellent teaching, dedicated study and social areas, approachable staff and our ethos of ambition for and belief in all, contribute to our culture of success. We value the individual therefore personal development is equally a priority. There is a wide range of opportunities outside the academic curriculum in which to gain experience, confidence and valuable skills to prepare for university, an apprenticeship, a gap year or to embark on your career after sixth form.
Our relatively small size gives us a highly ‘personalised feel’ which coupled with our cutting edge approach to teaching makes this is a truly unique opportunity. Curriculum
We teach a rigorous, knowledge-rich curriculum to all pupils, irrespective of background. This curriculum introduces students to the best and most important work in the humanities and sciences, preparing them to participate fully in debates about contemporary issues, as well as the universal questions that have interested humankind throughout history. Most importantly, our pupils leave school with confidence and poise, possessing a treasure trove of essential knowledge, allowing them to understand both themselves and the world they inhabit.
The education we offer at Wixams Academy Sixth Form empowers pupils to achieve their aspirations. However, it is much more than just a preparation for the workplace. Our Sixth Form prepares pupils to be active citizens and good human beings, interested in the world around them, and ready to contribute positively to its future.
Our Sixth Form students receive superb A-level teaching and bespoke support in preparation for their next steps. Having gained exceptional A-level grades (see here), our students go on to study at some of the best universities in the world, as well as for degree-apprenticeships and at leading art and music colleges.
